Overview
The Veiltail Cherry Barb fish is a tropical fish that is part of the barb fish family. This fish originated from Sri Lanka but is now also established in the wild in Mexico and Colombia.
These fish are usually red in colour with dark horizontal lines through the middle of the fish. The females are typically a bit browner in colour.
Typical Behaviour
These fish are very active and are not aggressive to other fish. They are always swimming about the tank keeping them self’s busy. It is recommended to give this fish plenty for tank space so they can spend their time exploring.
They also prefer to be in groups of around 6.
Appearance

Life Span
Veiltail Cherry Barb fish on average live for around two to three years in a home aquarium, Males typically live a little bit longer lifespan than females due to the birthing process can be difficult for them.

The average size of a full grown Veiltail Cherry Barb is 2 inches (5 cm) Typically males are smaller than the females some times up to 20% smaller.

Temperature
Ideally, Veiltail Cherry Barbs will need to be kept at a temperature between 65F – 80F. It is believed the perfect temperature for them is 75°F.

Tank Setup
There are certain things we need to consider when we are selecting a tank, we know the needs of this fish are
- Prefers a lot of space as they are active and love to swim around
- Each fish can grow up to 2 inches in size
- Needs water temperature of 65F – 88F

These fish are very active and like to swim all the time, Because of this they require a larger than normal. You will need to give 2 gallons of water per Veiltail Cherry Barbs fish.
How many Veiltail cherry barbs should be kept together? It is recommended to keep a minimum of 6 Veiltail cherry barbs together. These fish are typically shy and prefer to go around in schools with there own bread.
