Overview

Tiger Endler fish are adaptable and easy to keep creatures. Their beautiful colors also make them distinct and attractive.

They are compatible neighbors with other peaceful fish, but you should avoid placing them with larger and aggressive fish as they would nip at the tail of the Tiger Endler fish.

Typical Behaviour

Tiger Endlers are usually active, swimming at the top part of the aquarium most of the time. We advise that you place a lid or covering over the aquarium as they are known to jump out of the tank.

Tiger Endlers also like to be in a school of their species, with the males being less territorial than females.

Appearance

A Tiger Endler fish is close both in appearance and size to a guppy fish. They are easily identifiable by their bright tiger stripe black and yellow colors.

Although the females have duller colors compared to the males and sometimes have plain golden or silvery colors, they are much larger and plumper. They also have shorter fins than males.

Life Span

The Tiger Endler fish raised in a home aquarium has an average lifespan of about one to three years, with males usually living longer than the females. This is because the birthing process sometimes takes its toll on the females.

To further aid your Tiger Endler fish’s lifespan, you would need to pay attention to their water condition and environment to ensure it is conducive for them.

Size

A full-grown Tiger Endler has an average size of 1 inch (2.5cm).

Males are usually smaller and shorter in length than females.

Sexing

How can you tell if a Tiger Endler fish is male or female? Males are typically much smaller and streamlined than females, which have plump and longer bodies with plain golden or silvery colors. On the other hand, the males are brightly colored with black and yellow hues, tainted with red and blue.

Compatible Tank Mates

When mixing Tiger Endler with other fish in a community tank, it is essential not to mix them with larger fish as they could eat your Tiger Endler fish.

If you want to mix with guppy fish, you need to be careful as they will breed with them and your tank could become overrun with their fry if you are not careful.

Due to the Tiger Endler’s calm and peaceful nature, they can mix with many different fish.

Breeding

Breeding among Tiger Endlers is quite easy, as the male typically spreads his fins and chases the females.

How to tell if Tiger Endler fish is pregnant? You can tell by Simply examining her gravid spot closely, the dark area behind the belly. If it is large and protruding, then she’s pregnant.

Diseases

The last thing I want to go through is the common diseases these fish could suffer from.

Gill Disease

This is noticeable with your fish hanging at the tank bottom with the gills opened. It can be treated by frequently changing the water and using an API melafix fish remedy for bacterial infection.

Tail and Fin Rot

This disease makes the tail and fin of the affected fish turn blackened. If your fish suffers from this disease, you can change the water in the tank more frequently and apply Seachem’s Kanaplex to it.

Ich

Ich are small parasites that fix themselves on the body of the fish. They look like white spots on your fish. If you notice this on your fish, you can increase the water temperature to 84°F and add Ich X to the water.
